AdynatonPublishing logoAdynaton Publishing adynatonpublishing.com strives to bring engaging books to a niche market. Our primary areas of concentration are LGBT history, nonfiction, fiction targeted to those LGBT/Leather/BDSM/Fetish audiences who are looking for something different. We are pleased to introduce our newest title, To Walk With Strangers, a dark and powerful psychosexual thriller by Vincent Andrews. One reviewer wrote, “This book is destined to be a work that will swirl in controversy. Much like Cruising was condemned in its day, this book will anger some because of its depiction of the leather scene as something dark and seedy. Yet, it is precisely that darkness that makes the tale so powerfully erotic.” Another described it as, “…a page-turner…an unlikely and unnerving cross between The Leatherman’s Handbook and American Psycho.”

Kargaltsev_CoverSMAleksander Kargaltsev kargaltsev.com His photgraphic project “Asylum” (2011-2012) presented at 287 SPRING explores the lives of gay men who fled Russia for the United States because of the violence and hatred they have encountered in their motherland. For many of us living in New York, the idea that one could be forced to resettle across the globe only because of his or her sexual orientation may seem shocking and incomprehensible, but this is the reality that is so often left unnoticed. In 1991, when Russia opened its borders, a great number of LGBT individuals had no other choice but to flee from the abuse and mistreatment at the hands of their fellow citizens and the authorities, especially the police. Many asylum-seekers sought refuge in the countries of Western Europe and the United States. Kargaltsev’s series presents just a few of these tragic but inspiring stories, stories which often never a get a chance to be told.

Thornton_Bridesmen of Madison CountyBridesmen of Madison County amazon.com/MarkThornton
A beautiful five-star resort in the Pocono Mountains is the setting for the grand wedding of sexy Soap Opera star, Ricardo Santiago, and his fiancée, Kendra Koury. The wedding planner in charge of the event is Madison County, a hefty and outspoken fashion disaster in a blue satin blouse tucked into a baggy pair of white linen slacks over blue open-toed wedges. She lurks over her uproarious followers like the Evil Queen from a child’s nightmare. As the unsuspecting Bridesmen arrive, each brings unique drama, with an older man and his boy toy and a very cuddly leather bear only a sampling of the eclectic mix. The entire resort quickly becomes a media free-for-all with camera crews, television reporters and mobs of parasitic fans slithering about. Among the crowd is one particularly obnoxious reporter eager to uncover the many skeletons in the closets of the wedding couple and stake her claim to media fame. With her sharp eye and even sharper tongue, she hunts the audience like a starving king cobra looking for its prey. With its over-the-top drama, humor, and truths uncovered, both good and bad, Bridesmen of Madison County is a heartwarming novel of extraordinary people living extraordinary lives. StephensonBookCv Can Christians Be Saved? A Mystical Path To Oneness amazon.com/Can-Christians-Saved-Mystical-Oneness
by Virginia T. Stephenson and Buck A. Rhodes. Sacred literature is relived as a personal spiritual experience, guiding the reader to explore sacred texts as initiatory pathways to personal truth. Can Christians be Saved? Yes, Christians and others can be saved by experiencing the world through non-duality or oneness. By this means, experience replaces dogma as the source of beliefs. The authors share their personal experiences of delving deep into the meaning of stories and allegories from the Bible and from a variety of other traditions, including Hindu, Buddhist and modern New Age sources. The technique offered–and dramatized through the authors’ sharing of their own personal experiences—is to approach religious imagery and myth as one would a dream, understanding and analyzing the symbols to discover greater meaning, and the truth of the divine experienced within. The dualistic world view of Western religions promotes separation, hatred and wars as well as guilt, suffering and punishment. The non-dualistic world view of oneness removes judgments and separation leading to love and peace. This process facilitates the evolution of human consciousness, creating a world of Oneness, love and acceptance. Virginia Stephenson, a trans woman, and Buck Rhodes, a gay man, document their personal journeys as they reexamined these texts from this different world view.

CassandraAllen_logo_small Cassandra Allen allencass.wix.com/terrybirchwood Even though I use a pseudonym ‘Terry Birchwood’ to write erotic thrillers, I am a real person. I am a product of my parents, foremothers, forefathers and the Almighty. I am a soup of flesh and souls. I am reincarnation. I am living with gifts and challenges. I am an element of existence. I am aware that what my eyes see is not all there is to see. I am a ‘one of a kind’ architect of my design. Drawing from my design, I seek to make the world a better place. I believe that we accomplish more fruitful things with positive forces than we do with negative ones. Contrary to the belief of some, there’s no shame in being positive. It’s not vulnerability. It is the ultimate power source to affect goodwill on humanity. We must take down the rough, protective, distrusting exteriors; and we must come together to pay it forward , heal the earth, and love each other. One of the ways that I wish to unite people is through my erotic book line. I challenge you to tear down judgment, preconceived notions, and negative thinking. Rinse your minds of what you have been conditioned to believe, and take a walk with me on the wild side of love – where humans are tested to the brink of existence. Read about what people are willing to do for love, hate and everything in between as I challenge you to examine your own motives and how they affect your actions. My first book, Ghostwriter, concentrates on two powerful women torn apart by one simple lie. They will be tested by family, friends and loved ones to determine if their relationship is built on love, lust, betrayal or a combination of elements.

OkunCover A Short Jew in the body of a Tall Wasp markokunbooks.com by Mark Okun and Hillary L. Brower (Dog Ear Publishing, 2013) is a humorous but poignant tale of the struggles of a young flamboyant and rebellious young man raised in the warmth of his adopted family then casting his fate to the wind as he navigates his early life on his own against the backdrop of the tumultuous times. Mark tries to find how he fits in his world and his antics along the way are a true joy to share. His tall blonde and blue eyed good looks as a young gay man opened the doors at an early age for acceptance into the world of hard partying, rock and roll, drugs and sex. It was a wild ride but came with its toll to pay. When the alcohol and drugs wore off and the epidemic of AIDS hit hard it was the strong family values of his short dark complexioned parents that provided him with the strength to overcome the odds. The book is filled with colorful characters of the times in the gay world of 1970s and 80s . He tells stories of the party life, the struggles in the gay community for acceptance and how everything crashed as he watched as his friends one by one get sick and die from this unknown disease. Finally coming full circle by choosing sobriety and a healthier lifestyle he is encouraged to find his biological family. Mark Okun is a practicing hairdresser with clientele in Miami, Palm Beach, and Memphis Tennessee. His home base is New York City at Salon 02 located at 20 West 22nd St in NYC. His life experiences formed the body of the book A Short Jew In the Body of a Tall WASP . His love for his craft, and his solid family values helped navigate him through the most difficult times. Hillary L. Brower is currently a practicing attorney at Hillary L. Brower, LLC, 190 Highway 18, East Brunswick hlb@hbrowerlaw.com . Her practice is primarily criminal defense and family law. Her overriding passion is for writing. Ms. Brower has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Syracuse University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Brooklyn Law School. THREE_AnnemarieMohanan Three annemarie-monahan.com (PM/Flashpoint Press, 2012) by Annemarie Monahan. One yellow April morning, a 17-year-old girl asks herself, “Do I dare to eat a peach?” What she decides will send her life in one of three radically different directions. That morning is long past. Now she is forty-one. On one life path, she calls herself Ántonia. She’s barely survived the implosion of a lesbian Utopian commune, one built on an abandoned oil rig. Her lost Eden built by Eves. On another path, she is Katherine, a physician. Memory of two lovers chafes her like a hair shirt. After the death of one, she contacts the other: the deeply religious Amanda. On a third, she is Kitty. She’s been happily married for twenty-three years. Happily enough. Until her professor asks her for coffee and kisses her. Who are we? Who haven’t we been? Have we dared? Three of one woman’s possible lives are about to collide. As beautifully written as it is thought-provoking, Three is literature for grown-ups. It is for anyone who has ever yearned—for a person, for a better world, for the whisper of the sacred. As one advance reader wrote, “If Woolf, Winterson, and Russ set sail for that lighthouse together, the result might be Three .”

DavidFoley_trvlrsCompSm The Traveler’s Companion davidfoleyplays.com David Foley’s wryly romantic first novel takes place in the summer of 1985, when the dollar was high and young American backpackers flooded into Europe looking for culture, adventure, and maybe some love in a foreign language. Mark Dearborn, just out of college and not quite out of the closet, lands in Europe with his much more freewheeling friend Lint. They hit the high spots from London to Paris, where they meet Ricka, a needy and erratic American girl, and her friend Philip, a priest-in-training. The four travel to Venice together where, among their various romantic entanglements, Mark finds himself torn between a sexy older American and a moody young Italian—until a disastrous side trip to Rome rearranges everything. David Foley is a playwright and novelist living in New York. His plays include Nance O’Neil , Paradise , S ad Hotel , Cressida Among the Greeks , The Murders at Argos , Deadly Murder , A Hole in the Fence , Suffering the Witch , and The Last Days of Madalyn Murray O’Hair, in Exile .

thoreau in love schuyler bishopCVThoreau in Love by John Schuyler Bishop kobobooks.com/ebook/Thoreau-in-Love
In 1843, a repressive puritanism still hangs over Concord, Massachusetts, and Henry Thoreau, twenty-five years old, wants out. When his mentor, Ralph Waldo Emerson, gives him an opportunity to move to New York City, the lively center of the growing nation, Henry leaves Concord with no thought of ever returning. In his journals, the 250-some pages about his trip to New York have been ripped out, the only substantial number of pages missing from the forty-seven journal volumes. What was so scandalous that Thoreau—or, more likely, his literary executor—decided no one should see it? And why did Thoreau stay only six months in New York? Thoreau’s biographers go out of their way to convince us that the writer was heterosexual, although he never married and wrote freely in his journal about the beauty of men. His poem “Sympathy,” one of the few published in his lifetime, is a love poem to a boy who was his student. (About that poem, one celebrated biographer went so far as to say, “When he wrote ‘he’ Thoreau really meant ‘she’, and when he wrote ‘him’, he really meant ‘her.’”) By denying Thoreau’s real sexuality, scholars have reduced him to a wooden icon. But this sexuality can humanize the man. Thoreau in Love imagines the time of the missing pages, when Thoreau emerged from his shell and explored the wider world and himself before he returned to Concord, where he would fearlessly live the rest of his life and become the great naturalist and literary giant. ……………………….

Building It All from Scraps Beverly Ann Kessler buildingitallfromscraps.com Building It All from Scraps: A Gay, Social Work, Love Story by Beverly Ann Kessler. To chase, to embrace, and to savor the deepest passions of her heart, a quirky carpenter’s daughter builds her social work career – and fills the emptiness she has long known—by captivating the love of her life—Carolyn. But Jordan Mathews’ success is short-lived, as her career evolves into an outrageous battle of office politics, where no good deed seems to go unpunished – and where only the power of love survives! A vibrant and playful celebration of gay pride, Building It All From Scraps is a campy fiction that blends love, relationships, friendships and family, with an understanding of gay culture and history. Set at the Jersey Shore in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the story shares the transformation of a shy and ambiguous girl to a professional gay woman, and pits wants vs. expectations, needs vs. loyalties, in this comical construction of life’s loves, and the quest to find true meaning. The author includes a variety of articles about prominent social issues—and especially, those affecting gay people—at the end of the book. These condensed, professional, yet easy-to-understand articles form a reference section that serves as a political history and social commentary for gay people everywhere. But you don’t need to use the reference section to enjoy this amusing story about life, and love, fulfilled. A tale that revels in the clash of the sexual revolution, balancing disco community and true love with family life and working class values, Building It All from Scraps is a humorous and solidifying testimonial to all gay people, an educational and informative book for all human service workers, and a great piece of philosophical entertainment for those who are neither. And it lets us know, at the end of the day, that we are all the same. Now available from Xlibris in hard cover, soft cover and e-Book format! Table not assigned yet. Co-op Table
